Synopsis
This paper includes an album containing 4 photo galleries of scenes, and events that occurred at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS).
Background
If you happen to work long enough at one location, you probably have had the opportunity to see and do things that were not available to the general public—such was the case for me during my 18+ years working at Kennedy Space Center.
As a badged employee working on Center at KSC, I’ve had the opportunity to tour numerous facilities including active and inactive launch pads; the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB); and the Orbiter Processing Facility (OPF).
One of the main perks during the Shuttle era was being able to witness launches and landings from vantage points accessible only to badged employees.
The galleries presented here, in date taken order, were shot with the NEX-7 in JPEG fine format. The four galleries are: ARTEMIS 1, KSC Garden Club, IMCS Walkdown, and Atlantis Exhibit.
- Atlantis Exhibit contains photos from the Atlantis Shuttle display in the KSC Visitor Center.
- KSC Garden Club photos were taken during a landscape planting outing at the Space Station Processing Facility (SSPF).
- IMCS Walkdown photos were taken during an SH&MA (Safety, Health & Mission Assurance) organized tour of various IMCS (Information Management and Communications Support) contract locations.
- ARTEMIS 1 contains photos of the stacking operation in the VAB.
In between the galleries are photos I’ve taken with either a smart phone or point-and-shoot camera.

Atlantis Exhibit Gallery
Notes
The photos contained in this gallery were taken with the Sony 18-200mm lens. The Atlantis exhibit is hosted in the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Center.

KSC Garden Club Gallery
Notes
Prior to the COVID shutdowns, the KSC Garden Club invited the KSC Photography Club to photograph their efforts to restore the plantings around the SSPF building. The photos were taken with the Sony 18-200mm lens.

IMCS Walkdown Gallery
Notes
During the IMCS contract at KSC, the SH&MA group regularly conducted tours of sites and facilities at KSC and Canaveral that were within the scope of the IMCS contract. For this outing, I decided on the Rokinon 8mm manual lens. Even though this lens was fairly inexpensive, I think it takes pretty sharp photos, not to mention an unusual look and feel.

Artemis 1 Gallery
Notes
The photos in this gallery were taken in the VAB (Vehicle Assembly Building) of the Artemis 1 stacking operation in High Bay 3. The photos were taking with the Sony Vario-Tessar 16-70mm lens.
